About the DVD-ROM ================ Publication Information ----------------------- Geological Survey of Canada, Open File 5122 Digital geology, Stewart River area, Yukon S.P. Gordey, S.P. Williams, R.B. Cocking and J.J. Ryan © Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada 2006 NOTE: Open files are products that have not gone through the GSC formal publication process. Digital Topographic Data provided by Geomatics Canada, Natural Resources Canada. This publication was released in digital format in 2006. This DVD-ROM presents results of the Geological Survey of Canada's Stewart River Project (2000-2004) in west-central Yukon (63-64N;138-141W). It contains multiple datasets in several formats. The data are organized to be fully explored by viewing software with hyperlink capability, such as the included ESRI® ArcReader™ 9.0 viewer (below). Less sophisticated viewers (e.g. ArcExplorer™)allow data visualization, but will not display the extensive linked supplementary information that is included. Extensive documentation is provided in HTML format viewable in a web browser (e.g. compatible with Internet Explorer 5.0 or later). Many files require Adobe® Reader® for viewing. This can be freely downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. Directory Structure on DVD-ROM ------------------------------ The DVD-ROM is divided into the following directories: DIRECTORY - CONTENTS \ - this readme file, as well as its French equivalent lisezmoi.txt); a file containing disclaimers and an end-user agreement for digital data licence.txt); and a file containing the recommended citation (citation.txt). \apps - application software (see below for information on installation). \access - Microsoft Access runtime version of Stewart River fieldnote database \files - Setup files for Microsoft Access runtime version \setup - Setup files for Microsoft Access runtime version \arcexplorer20 - ESRI® ArcExplorer™ v. 2.0 GIS viewing software \arcreader90 - ESRI® ArcReader™ v. 9.0 GIS viewing software \support - DLL file enabling installation of ArcReader \arcview3x - freeware used to provide hyperlink capability in conjunction with ESRI ArcView™ v. 3.x GIS viewing software \fonts - GSC fonts and styles used to symbolize spatial data in GIS viewer (ArcReader, ArcView™ (v8 +), ArcMap) \data - digital data and project files in multiple formats \database - Microsft Access database for Stewart River project data \documents - documents in html and PDF format \html - html format documents \bostocknotes - H.S. This viewer operates on the srgeology.PMF file (published map file; see below) that contains pre-defined legend definitions, data layouts and pointers to data sources. Such project files for other ESRI® GIS software are also included. ArcExplorer™ (using srgeology.AEP), is a free low-end data visualization program included on this DVD (and available at: http://www.esri.com/software/arcexplorer/index.html.). With ArcView™ 3.x (using srgeology.AVP) hyperlink (hotlink) capability is included, but map legends are much simplified. ESRI's ArcMap™ module provided with ArcView™ (v. 8 and higher) and ArcGIS (using srgeology.MXD) provides full functionality. Users of these other software can either open the related project file through the intro startup application included on this DVD, or directly with their respective software.
