Directory Structure on CD-ROM ___________________________ The CD-ROM is divided into the following directories: \ - Contains this readme file, an end-user agreement for digital data (licence.txt); and a file containing the recommended citation (citation.txt). \apps - Contains ESRI® ArcReader™ v. 9.3 and Adobe® Reader® v. 9.0 software (see below for information on installation). \data - Contains data files designed for GIS and database analysis and querying. \SHP - Contains GIS map data files and base map data in SHAPE format. \XML - Contains GIS map data files in XML format. \doc - Contains documents describing the organization of geological features in RTF files. \HTML - Directory for HTML format. \images - Contains images for HTML files. \Data Model - Contains geodatabase data model/domains in RTF files. \PDF - Contains updated notes and references of nine geology maps, transect figures. \GIS_Map\pmf - Contains Published Map File (PMF) for viewing using ArcReader. Applications Directory (\apps) _________________________ Contains installation file for ArcReader™. The installation file for ArcReader™ v 9.3 for Windows® was downloaded from http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/arcreader/download.html. Please visit this web site for system requirements, and further information on the product. Installation of ArcReader™ under Windows® requires administrator privileges. During installation, files are put in the TEMP directory. A TEMP environment variable must be set and the TEMP directory should be writable. To install ArcReader™, unzip the file ArcReader93.zip to a convenient folder and then run or double-click on the file setup.exe file and follow the instructions of the installation wizard. To get started quickly in viewing the digital data using ArcReader™, copy the GIS_Map folder on the CD to your root C drive (C:\GIS_Map); then navigate to the GIS_Map folder on your C drive and double-click on the file MAP6175.pmf. Geological features will only symbolize properly if special fonts are installed. To install the fonts, navigate to the apps\fonts folder and copy fonts to C:\WINDOWS\Fonts. The fonts should install automatically but if they do not, you may require Administrator privileges or system support to install them manually. Data Directory (\data) __________________ Contains GIS data in SHAPE file format. The GIS map feature class names and attributes are explained in the \doc\data model\Bedrock Mapping Data Model.rtf file on this CD. The Bedrock Data Model and the Bedrock Mapping Domains documents are intended to describe all bedrock features which may be compiled at the 1:50 000 scale. Therefore, all of the feature classes and feature attributes described in these documents may not be present in the maps contained on this CD-ROM. GIS Map Directory (\GIS_Map) __________________________ Contains all files required for displaying the data with ArcReader™.
